~recycled hair pretties~
I pull my hair up. A lot.
Like...almost everyday.
Especially in the summer.
It's just too hot to wear it down most days.
I love a little bling in my hair and
I got this bright idea to refashion a couple
of REALLY old barrettes that I haven't worn
for a long time. I haven't got rid of them because
I like the size....one is real big and the other is real small.
They were very plain and boring...which is why
I rarely used them. Honestly-I'm shocked I've
kept them this long.
I took this:
...and turned it into this:
My little guy took the pics and was so proud of himself.
"Ooh...this is a good one Mom."
The small barrette I didn't get a before picture of.
It was just a little, clear barrette.
This is what it looks like now:
I wear this A LOT now.
I actually didn't have to use the E-6000 glue
for these. The embellishments already had an
adhesive on them and they stuck really well
to the barrettes. I found these embellishments
in the scrapbook section at Michael's.
They are scrapbook stickers!
Who would have thought?
This is about the easiest refashion I have
EVER done. And I figure all the hairspray
I use will just help to permanently affix
these do-dads onto the barrette.

~bunny hair pretties for little girl~
I saw a cute idea for some Easter hair pretties
in the dollar store the other day. I would
have bought them but they were too big for
my little lady's head so I came home
and tried my own version.
See:
I love them with the little piggies on top
of her head.
They were easy to make.
All you need is a hair clip, felt and
whatever you want to embellish it with.
I was thinking of making a set and doing
a giveaway but as I started thinking about
my schedule this week and next,
I realized I wouldn't have a chance
to make it and get them out before Easter.
Sorry.
It's Wednesday...the week is half over.
I've got a baby shower I'm throwing on Saturday
and a family Easter dinner on Sunday.
It's going to be busy....
I'll be posting pics of the table and decorations.
On a totally different topic....
have you seen The Hunger Games yet?
I'm interested to hear people's opinion
about the movie. I read the books
and LOVED them (surprisingly).
After seeing the movie the only word I
can come up with when people ask me
what I thought is, "Eh."
I know, it's not really a word.
It just lacked the oomph that the book had.
For me, the emotion didn't come thru in
the movie like it did so strongly in the book.
Doesn't that always seem to be the case?
It was anti-climatic.
However, the casting and the acting was
phenomenal.....superb.

~hair pretties~
My little guy had a birthday party for one of his friends
who is a girl but "not a girlfriend" (as he says).
Along with a stack of leg warmers,
I made her a couple hair pretties.
My little lady is still in the stage where she pulls
EVERYTHING out of her hair when I attempt
to style it. Because of this, I haven't really
got into making hair pretties yet.
My Mom used to make them for us when I was a kid
and I remember being so proud of the fact that
I had the cutest hair pretties in the whole class.
My experience making hair accessories is moderate.
I went thru a phase in 9th grade where I made a bunch
of cute barrettes and clips for myself using oddball things.
Some of them were real cute.
Others....questionable.
Like the one I adorned with pills.
Yes...you read correctly. My Mom worked in a
Dr's office and we had tons of drug samples so
I thought they would be a cute colorful way to
adorn this particular barrette. I wore it a few times
and actually got a lot of compliments on it but
the first time my Mother informed me that I was
wearing hormone pills that she took for her
menopause, was the day I quit wearing it.
Nowadays it would probably be considered drug contraband.
I've just dated myself haven't I? I went to school
back in the days when we didn't have school officers,
mandatory locker inspections, drug sniffing dogs and
rules and regulations for EVERYTHING.
I'm sure as my girl gets older I will make more
and get better at making them but until then,
this is where I'm at with it.
To say the little girl I made them for is a "girly girl" would be
a bit of an understatement. I sure do hope she likes them.
I can see how this could get addicting.
I had so much fun making these.
They were easy, inexpensive and quick.
